Where Every Child Has an Honored Role
Here at Kauai Montessori, it is our goal to provide a safe, nurturing educational environment for children. A place where they can develop socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.
Montessori Preschool Program
3 years - 6 Years
In a Montessori classroom children are free to choose their own work according to their individual interests and abilities, to discover through hands on explorations of manipulative materials. When you visit, you may hear the phrase “grace and courtesy.”
This is more than manners: it’s all of the activities that facilitate successful social and life skills. Through grace and courtesy, Kauai Montessori Preschool creates an environment where helping, caring and responsibility develop naturally and appropriately.
Our staff of caring professionals gently guide the child on their path of growth and development, being the dynamic link between the child and the environment. The classroom environment is carefully set up, everything has a purpose: all of the materials selected help the child to develop a foundation for future learning and growth.

First Step Infant & Toddler Program
6 weeks - 3 years
85% of a child’s brain development occurs by the age of three.
With this knowledge, our Montessori Educators create an environment that is rich with opportunity and filled with love. Maria Montessori spoke of this time of a child’s life as the “unconscious absorbent mind” The child is acquiring vast amounts of information from their environment and relationships.
The “curriculum” in our Montessori First Step Program is to support the caregiving routines. Our educators provide a language rich environment which honors and respects the child. We create opportunities for the child to explore and develop in a safe and nurturing environment. Activities are presented to promote the development of order, coordination, concentration and independence. Educators are responsive to developmental needs and sensitive periods of each child.
Our First Step Program supports Montessori’s Multi-Age groupings in the following way:
Infants - 6 weeks to around 15/18 months
Toddlers - from around 15/18 months up to 3 years
Children will typically remain in the class for a full school year and transition at the start of a new school year to maintain consistency and continuity of care.
The First Step Program is a partnership between the child, the educators, and the family. It is no small task to support the child during this critical time of rapid growth. Entrusting us with your child is a great honor and we thank you for sharing this special time in your child’s life with us. Working together, with clear communications, mutual respect and support, is how we make this the most amazing experience for all.

Mission & Vision
“The essence of our effort to see that every child has a chance must be to assure each an equal opportunity, not to become equal, but to become different-to realize whatever unique potential of body, mind and spirit he or she possesses.”
– John Fischer
